Dose of Happy Monday: Books

I have an e-reader, (a big thanks to my mom for that birthday present!), but I still enjoy a real book every once in awhile. Ye olde budget doesn’t allow for much purchasing of said books.

I do use the library system quite liberally. But sometimes? I need more time than the library can give me to finish a book.

A couple weeks ago, I joined PaperBackSwap. It’s pretty much what it sounds like, you swap books back and forth, paying only for the shipping. You earn a credit for every book you send out, and it costs 1 credit to claim most books (Audio books are one exception. They are usually 2 credits) I can even print the postage out right from the PBS website, and just chuck said books in the mailbox. Which is awesome for those of us who aren’t huge fans of dealing with the post office. Or people.

Books make me happy. (Now, if I could just choose which books I want to read…any suggestions?)

Friends also make me happy, so if you’re already using PBS, leave me a comment with your username. I’d love to hook up with you! (My user name is(surprise) ThePsychobabble)

If you have a Dose of Happy to share this Monday, head over to BandBackTogether and link up with us!

I, too, am a book geek. My biggest moving battles with the spouse were over books and which ones we could take. I narrowed it down to a slim six  paper ream boxes and donated the rest to our local library. I can only hope they will bring someone else as many happy hours as they have brought me over the years.

That’s awesome.  I wish they had something like that for ebooks.

What a great idea that book exchange is! I really loved the book, Fall on your Knees, by Canadian author Ann Marie McDonald, it was amazing. I also read Book of Negros, if you haven’t read that yet, it was great, but pretty intense … I can’t believe I have *actually* finished a few books recently (the latter being one of them, the others were about modern wars, maybe something you don’t want to read right now?)
