If I Won The Lottery…

If I were to win the lottery, I’d do whole give-money-to-charity, pay-off-my-debts, and buy-something-for-my-mother that everyone else also plans on doing, when their fortune ship comes.

You know, the responsible stuff.

But if I were to have a huge amount of money fall into my lap, that’s not all I would do with it. Oh no, I have other plans for my lottery winnings.

Build a house from the ground up We own our home (well, the bank owns our home, but we’re getting there…) and living in a home that someone else designed means that I’ve developed a long list of things that I would do differently. Someday, I hope we can build our own home, but if I won the lottery, I’d be all over that.

Two new vehicles I would love to buy two so-new-the-warranty-is-still-valid vehicles. One for me, and one for the husband. Don’t get me wrong, being married to a mechanic means that we don’t have to pay auto shop prices when things need fixing, and I am very grateful for that. But the husband fixes vehicles all week long, and it would be nice if he didn’t have to use his days off to work on our vehicles.

Buy a camper that doesn’t smell like feet We have a camper currently, and we’ve used it some, but our family has outgrown it. Plus- like most campers in our price range- it needs some love and attention. And we did do some work to it before taking it out, but we discovered that- when it’s rainy and damp out- our camper smells a little bit like old sneakers. I’d love to get a slightly bigger camper, that is immediately usable.

Land in the middle of nowhere On this land we could park the camper, or build a cabin. Or maybe a secret bunker, in which we’d store our supplies for the zombie apocalypse

Buy a new laptop Mine has died. I don’t like to talk about it, it’s still too painful. I’ve been using the husband’s netbook. Again, I’m very grateful that we at least have that, but I still miss my laptop.

Travel to everywhere If I won the lottery, I’d totally just pick up and go places. And I would even bring the children!

Update the wardrobe Much like the laptop, this is not a subject I enjoy. But part of being less than affluent- and I repeat, I’m grateful that it’s not as bad as it once was- means prioritizing. Everyone needs new clothes, but that whole pesky grown-up/parent thing means that I choose to clothe the children first. As it should be.

Since my chances of winning the lottery aren’t exactly spectacular- I’d have to start buying tickets first- I’ll have to settle for checking these off one by one, instead of all at once!

If you won the lottery, what would you do?

I would do a lot of the same things you listed here….of course I would have to start buying tickets, too.

Alas, the biggest obstacle to winning…

Pay off all the debts, especially student loans. Clothes and shoes. and one of those mid-seven-figure Prevost tour-bus-exteme-RV numbers that actually has closet space to hold all the clothes and shoes. Now, I just need to buy the ticket.

    • Thepsychobabble

      I hope you get your majorly-closeted RV(somehow that doesn’t sound right…)

  • LucidLotus Life

Oh noes!  Laptops are like life’s blood to a blogger.  Hope you win soon and can do all the things you want to.
I have a similar list, but I would also hire a cook and personal trainer so I could finally get my rear in gear.

I KNOW, right? I mean, again-grateful for the netbook- but it’s just totally not the same thing:(

I would be a professional student. I would spend my days learning and I’ve have a maid and a cook so I could focus only on that which interested me. :-)
