This post is a review post. I received a bottle of Aveeno Baby Essential Moisture Shampoo from bzzagent.com to test out on my own children, and share my opinion. That was the extent of my compensation for this post.
I like getting packages in the mail, so I was all excited to open this box when it came. I saw it was the shampoo, so I opened it up. The first thing I did was give it the good old sniff test.
It smells REALLY GOOD.
The second thing I did was check the ingredient list. Now, the bottle says “With Natural Ingredients”…and it does have natural ingredients. The majority of the ingredients, however, are synthetic. So if I were searching for a truly natural product for the wee ones, this wouldn’t be it.
Now, I had given the kids a bath just that morning, and they were squeaky clean. But this smelled really good, and I was itching to try it. So naturally, I fed them tacos for dinner. Instant mess-maker.
So I filled the tub while bragging up this brand new shampoo mommy got, and won’t it be fun to try it out?
Truck, my son, has a big issue with soap and his eyes. When he was younger, we had to use dandruff shampoo on his icky scalp issues. (it was so bad, he was losing hair!) So normally, washing hair is a huge deal. And there was the usual kicking and fussing during the hair washing. But afterward, when I asked him if his eyes hurt, he cheerfully said, “No eyes!”
Which either means he went blind, or no, his eyes didn’t hurt.
My daughter has really long hair, and my son has uber-curly hair, so we go through a lot of de-tangling spray in this house. In the interest of giving Aveeno’s claims of “touchably soft hair” and knot-free hair a fair shake, we set aside the spray, and went for it.
Miss Question said it barely hurt to comb her hair. And from the little drama queen? That is quite the recommendation! My son’s hair really put it to the test though. It’s all those curls, usually after a bath, the back of his head starts to get knotted up within hours.
I washed his hair last night, and when I took him over to my mom’s this morning, I showed it to her. There were still no knots, or matting in his curls! I can’t believe it. I am definitely impressed.
So, onto Pros vs. Cons….
Pro
Smells pretty
Lives up to de-tangling claims
very gentle on eyes
Cons
Price-nearly $6 for 8oz as opposed to $5.50 for 20oz of Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo (compared at drugstore.com)
Not really a “natural” product
I haven’t had a chance to try the diaper rash cream yet, but will share when I do.
And I almost forgot, I have samples to share! Comment below for a shot at ‘em!
