Who Am I?
The Background
Born and raised in Wisconsin, took a brief sojourn out of state when my high school sweetheart enlisted in the Marine Corps. We sealed the deal in 2004 at the cutest little church, and moved on out to California.
Our daughter, little Question was born about 10months later, in June of 2005.
She was followed by our son, Truck, who was born in September of 2007, about 4 weeks before we moved back across the country, via roadtrip, to Wisconsin.
I started school in 2008, while The Man started his apprenticeship in the millwright industry. I’m going for the RN program.
I’ve been unemployed since 2008, and in the first few months of 2009 The Man was laid off, and has been ever since.
But, who am I REALLY?
Really? I am a dork who tries to hard. I have some serious social anxiety, which can lead to me trying to overcompensate.
I am a smart woman with a barbed sense of humor. I use that humor both to diffuse situations, and to protect myself. I have a hard time trusting people, and humor is one of my layers of armor. Especially the self-deprecating kind.
I like to think I’m strong, I like others to think of me as strong, but in my heart, I know I have my fair share of weaknesses.
Deep down, I’m a sensitive soul. Sometimes a little too much of a sensitive soul. I care about people, and hate to see them suffer. Even when they bring it on themselves.
I’ve battled with depression off and on almost since I can remember. And? I have chosen some really poor methods of coping in the past. I still struggle sometimes not to give in to the urge to use some of those methods.
One of my greatest fears is that my kids will have to deal with this same issue.
Who Are These Other People?
The Man- aka Mr. Babble, my high school sweetheart, and husband since 2004. Currently in school for an Associate’s in Automotive Tech. Despite his political leanings to the right, his ADD and habit of driving me batty, I can’t help but love him.
Miss Question- my inquisitive, smart alack daughter. A lover of words, like her mom, and a budding chef. She’s willing to try almost any food once, and loves the cooking channel. Started 4K in 2009, and seems older every day!
Truck- I swear this was one of the first 3 words he spoke. Loves all things with wheels and motors. Always on the go, and usually attempting some stunt that makes my heart stop briefly. Definitely the baby of the family at 2 years old, though he doesn’t always agree.
Sadie- our 2 1/2yr old 100+lb dog, who thinks she is a lap dog. We rescued her from the local shelter. She had at least 3 prior owners in the 1-1 1/2yrs before we got her. She has some abandonment issues. Very docile and loving, but gets nervous if left to her own devices for too long.
Thomas- our 2yr old cat, we rescued him as a kitten from craigslist.org neither one of us were cat people before we got him. But he thinks he’s a dog, so it’s worked out well for us.
