Maybe it’s that time of year, when things start dying and we start preparing for long, dreary months.

Or maybe 2010 was just slated to be a wench of  a year.

But tonight, I’m having a hard time. My back is wrenched, and I’m off work again. I already don’t make enough. If you take away a week, well, the paycheck ain’t pretty.

I’m also seeing  a lot of people I know struggling.

With pain.

With sorrow.

With a loss, or a coming loss, of someone near to them.

And I feel powerless.

All I have to offer is virtual hugs, pats on the back and words.

And I know those mean something, but I’d love to do so much more.

I  meant to write, I really did. Just like I meant to get through the mound of laundry, do my homework and sleep more than 4 hours. But I got distracted.

So while I go off and write “Procrastination is not a viable talent” 100x on a sheet of paper, please enjoy some Stuff I Didn’t Write!

Apparently. And I can’t really duck my own assignment, so…on with the show! Want to play along? It’s not too late! Click the link above to see what’s going on!

BlogHer@Home

Introductions don’t come easy to me. It’s part of that social anxiety thing. “New people? OMG, where’s that rock I prefer to hide under!”

Oh look, I just told you something about me! Woohoo! Off to a great start.

My name is Jen, and I live in a very small town in Wisconsin. I have two children, one of each flavor, and a husband.

I juggle many roles in my day to day life, and sometimes I drop the ball. I try to be honest in this space, even if it means being vulnerable, because I want others to know that they aren’t alone.

If you look in the sidebar, you can see which posts get the most hits and comments. And I like most of them. But some of my personal favorites didn’t make that list. You’ll find them sprinkled throughout this post.

I hope you feel like you know me a little bit better now, if not feel free to check out my About page.

Much love,

Heh. That makes it sound like we’re a bunch of axe murderers, or evil scientists plotting the unleashing of zombie hordes.

Mmm….Braaaains…..

Anyway. Moving. On.

I don’t have much to say, and there isn’t a lot of time…mostly because I spent it messing around with my blog theme. Sorry.

Things I’ve Learned from Blogging Experts

10)Write for your audience

9)Write for yourself

8)Tracking your stats lets you know how you stand

7)Ignore your stats, they’re just numbers

6)Share EVERYTHING! YES, everyone wants to know what happened in the bathroom today!

5)Share some things

4)Share nothing, make up names, locations and random events. People love that.

3)Be controversial-talk politics, religion and sex

2)Avoid controversy, and politics, religion and sex.

1)Have fun with it!

Argh. I’m just frustrated. And very tired. But the semester is counting down in weeks now. So soon, yet so far….

Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s a craptastic move to make, deleting an already published post. Those who saw it, saw it. Those who got in their reader, got it. And my apologies to both those people, and the people who are now scratching their heads going, “WTF?”

I’m sorry, I just couldn’t do it in the end. Mea culpa.

Forgive me?

Princess Jenn’s ‘Follow Friday’

It’s that time of the week again, and look, it’s not after 4pm! Yay me! Of course FAIL for not posting since Monday. But…moving on, shall we?

This week, I’m listing the people who must think I’m *entirely* indecisive. For some reason twitter keeps unfollowing me from these guys. And then I re-follow. And then twitter unfollows them, and then I follow them…and so on. Twitter clearly doesn’t approve. Oh. Well.

In no particular order, this week’s follow Friday list is:

@UndomesticDiva

@TastelikeCrazy

@PBandJazz

Ta-Da!

Some of you may have heard of twitter once or twice before.
Edited to add the following sentences, because apparently I only typed them in my head Every Friday, people add the hashtag #FF to their tweets, and list people that they follow who rock. So you learn who your favorite Twitter-person loves, and you meet someone new, and most likely awesome./edit

I used to do it religiously, and then? I got busy. (Reference: yesterday’s post, Section: no time.) But it’s okay, because @PrincessJenn, over at Princess Prose, has hooked us up with a little badge, and is instigating things encouraging people to join her in posting Follow Fridays on their blogs.

For this one, I’m just going to ease into it. Besides, Friday is nearly over.
In no particular order at all, with little rhyme or reason, I present ThePsychobabble’s Follow Friday List (ta da!)

@Ieatmykidzsnack
I began following her a week or so ago. And she causes me to crack up, DAILY. Impressive. So I share.

@MissBanshee Disturbed, twisted, funny and often hides the profound behind the silliness. My girl crush is so large, my husband should be worried. (Also? Her blog? Is Teh Awezome.)

@MommyNeedsMeds Follow her for the funny side of parenting. She’s honest and open, and hilarious. And she has a killer rack Trust me. It’s worth it.

There you have it, three awesome people to follow on Twitter. My first official Follow Friday post AND I managed to get it up before Saturday. Awesome!

Love and Such,
Jen ThePsychobabble

nenos-award1

OMG! It’s my VERY FIRST Blog-type award. I feel so speshul and loved. Anne, over at Forever a Younger tagged me with a Neno award.

Neno’s Award—-Rules and Regulations
1. As a dedication for those who love blogging and love to encourage friendships through blogging.
2. To seek the reasons why we all love blogging.
3. Put the award in one post as soon as you receive it.
4. Don’t forget to mention the person who gives you the award.
5. Answer the award’s question by writing the reason why you love blogging.
6. Tag and distribute the award to as many people as you like.
7. Don’t forget to notify the award receivers and put their links in your post.

So…why do I continue to blog? Why am I so addicted to it? I know! I’mma gunna do this in LIST FORM! Because I? Am a fan of lists.

  • 1.
    Friendship
    & Support
  • 2. To remember
  • 3. To vent my frustration and heart ache
  • 4. To let others know they’re not alone
  • 5. To have a record of the good things, too.
  • Someone asked me why I blog one time. And I decided you could basically sum up my reasons for blogging into two short phrases. 1) I talk. A lot. and 2) I have issues. There you go. My reasoning in a nutshell!

Now for the tagging aspect. I’m going to hit PrincessJenn with this one, Vixen, and Avitable.(although, I’m not sure he “does” awards. Meh. Tough cookies. You’re getting one anyway. So there.)

If your name isn’t on this list, it’s probably because I’m too lazy to do any more linking. So feel free to steal this award, and share why it is *you* blog. And please, send me a link. I’d love to read it!

Death by sinuses. Is that possible? Yeah…no. Instead you just feel miserable and WANT to be dead. Oh joy.
So that’s where I’m at right now. If my tired, feverish eyes stop being all blurry, I’ll get back to reading/responding/writing…but I don’t think it will happen today.
In the meantime, here is a short list of people who amuse me when my eyes are capable of focusing. (I’m assuming they still would when my eyes don’t focus, but TheMan refuses to sit here next to me and read blogs and/or tweets aloud to me. What a jerk, eh? Apparently he thinks wrangling small children and providing tissues, liquids and drugs are enough….)

    Avitable

    Scary Mommy

    PrincessJenn

    Aiming Low

And for, of course, everyone I listed as my personal influential blogger.

Have fun, and I’ll see you when I can breath again.
